"...do not say I am youth..."

There are times when we get so caught up in our own struggles and in the idea that we don't have the power to make a difference that we miss the opportunities to be filled to overflow so that we can be blessings upon the lives of others...

Procrastination, FEAR and the feeling of worthlessness are all thieves! They steal our ability to think, act and see the truth! We give them too much power...

This all became clear to me this week at the Launch of EconForum...it all started with one young woman who saw a need to give students @ Monash more than what they get in the lecture room...she approached two other young women who bought into the idea and agreed to work together to find an answer to fulfil this need...more and more people got involved and on Thursday 19th May 2011 the club was launched...the feedback from students was overwhelming and confirmed the idea that students at Monash are hungry for more than just theory learnt in lectures...they need to be fed with current issues and ideas that will challenge them to get informed and be MORE!

We all have that secret place...where we hear that voice telling us what we are capable of despite all the lies that we are told on the surface! That desire to be more and to start something or do something...You know what I'm talking about...

This reminds me of the story of Jeremiah in the Bible when God chose him to be a prophet and said to him,

"Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; Before you were born I sanctified you; I ordained you a prophet to the nations." (Jeremiah 1:5)

And then Jeremiah replied and said,

"Ah, Lord God! Behold, I cannot speak, for I am youth." (Jeremiah 1:6)

Then God said,

"Do not say, I am youth,' for you shall go to whom I send you, And whatever I command you, you shall speak. Do not be afraid of their faces for I am with you to deliver you," (Jeremiah 1:7-8)

"Behold, I have put My words in your mouth. See, I have this day set you over the nations and over the kingdoms, To root out and pull down, To destroy and to throw down, To build and to plant." (Jeremiah 1: 9-10)

At his young age, Jeremiah was secretly told what he needed to do...but at first he hesitated...this is what I am talking about...we are sometimes so quick to bring up any excuse why we should not be the ones to take the first step or be obedient to "that voice"...we use silly excuses like Jeremiah did, or things like, "I am not ready" or "I don't know how to"... well read verse 1:7-8 again!

We are Africa's future...what we are learning and establishing today will impact our countries in the years to come...like God said, we are called to "root out and pull down" all lies, "Destroy and throw down" anything that is not of God that stands in our way..."To build and to plant" a future for Ourselves! Let us not rob our neighbours their chance to be blessed, It is NOT our place to say!

Now I am not saying that we should all become prophets...I am saying let's answer to being sisters, brothers, mentors, study buddies...living examples..you know what you are being asked to do...or what desire lies in you...whether small or big...its a part of the ripple effect to the victory of our nations! YEs it might sound like I am being dramatic but its true! So

"Arise and shine; for your light has come!"  (Isaiah 60:1)
